Bring your lunch and join Portland Opera Chorus Master and Assistant Conductor Robert Ainsley for an exploration of the music and history behind Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, complete with musical highlights.
A haunting ghost story that will put audiences on the edge of their seats, The Turn of the Screw marks the first Benjamin Britten opera to be presented on the Keller Auditorium stage. Based on a Henry James well-known tale, Britten’s opera is a modern masterpiece that preserves almost every detail of James’ story. It is an atmospheric, strange and powerful piece with intense, evocative music.
The Turn of the Screw opens February 6, 2009. For more information, visit www.portlandopera.org.
