“Would you like an aria with those fries?”
BROWN BAG SERIES
With Rob Ainsley and the
Portland Opera Studio Artists
Rigoletto is Verdi’s powerful tale of deceit, vengeance and a father’s unwitting betrayal of his own daughter. In court, the famous hunchback jester Rigoletto does the lecherous Duke of Mantua’s dirty work, helping seduce one innocent woman after another. At home however, he has a daughter he loves and protects. But life in the corrupt ducal court, an old man’s curse and Rigoletto’s act of defiance and revenge on the Duke bring this ironic tragedy to a heart-wrenching conclusion.
Please join Portland Opera Assistant Conductor and Chorus Master Rob Ainsley and his talented band of Studio Artists for insights and musical highlights from Verdi’s masterpiece.
