IAN JOSÉ RAMIREZ
Soprano KATRINA GALKA, will join the Resident Artists program this year and will perform this season in the solo roles of Frasquita in Carmen and Ida in Die Fledermaus. On Tuesday, March 31, 2015 she will give her Resident Artist recital at the Portland Art Museum’s Whitsell Auditorium. Katrina received her master’s degree in vocal performance from Boston University earlier this year and has appeared with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis for the past two seasons. Her roles include Pamina in The Magic Flute, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Eurydice in Orpheus in the Underworld, and Marie in The Daughter of the Regiment.
Tenor IAN JOSÉ RAMIREZ, who returns to Portland for his second year in the program will sing the roles of Dr. Blind in Die Fledermaus, Le Remendado in Carmen, Jim in Show Boat, and Sellem in The Rake’s Progress. Ian’s Resident Artist recital takes place on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Whitsell Auditorium. Earlier this summer Ian performed with the Caramoor Center’s Bel Canto Opera program, preceded by appearances with the Oregon Symphony and Opera Theater Oregon.
Baritone ALEXANDER ELLIOTT, who also returns for his second year as a Resident Artist, during which he will perform Frank in Die Fledermaus, Le Dancaïre in Carmen, and Belcore in The Elixir of Love. His Resident Artist recital takes place at the Whitsell Auditorium on Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Alexander spent the summer as a participant in the San Francisco Opera’s prestigious Merola Program and will be a featured vocalist in the Oregon Symphony’s Waterfront Concert on Thursday, August 28.
