Meet Studio Artist André Chiang

Tomorrow night is the first Portland Opera Studio Artist recital of the season, presented by baritone André Chiang, with Robert Ainsley on piano. Please join us! The recital will take place at Whitsell Auditorium (inside Portland Art Museum) beginning at 7 PM. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $10.

In honor of his first performance, I thought I'd take this week to "formally" introduce you to André. Rather than giving him the standard Meet the Staff interview, I asked him to fill out the Proust questionnaire instead. If you're familiar with the Proust questionnaire, you probably know it best from the back pages of Vanity Fair magazine, where every month, a celebrity's answers are published.

Marcel Proust did not himself write the questionnaire, but rather made it famous simply by answering it; such questionnaires were common party games in the 19th century. He filled out this kind of questionnaire at least twice in his life: once at age 13, and again at age 20. His answers from both of these occasions can be seen here.

Here are some great examples from the pages of Vanity Fair:
Margaret Atwood
Tina Fey
John Waters
