PORTLAND OPERA’S
“Would you like an aria with those fries?”
BROWN BAG SERIES
FEBRUARY TOPIC:
Cavalli's LA CALISTO
with Roberty Ainsley and the
Portland Opera Studio Artists

Bring your lunch and join Portland Opera Chorus Master and Assistant Conductor Robert Ainsley, and the Portland Opera Studio Artists, for an exploration of the music and history behind this season’s Portland Opera Studio Artist production—Cavalli’s La Calisto. The program includes musical highlights from the Studio Artists.

The gods mix it up with the mortals in this Baroque gem. What’s a girl to do when the head of the gods himself keeps hitting on her? It’s no easy thing, even in this humorous romp. Baroque opera continues its conquest of the 21st century with this heady brew of humor and sincerity. Featuring the Portland Opera Studio Artists, now for the first time in the beautiful intimacy of the Newmark Theatre.

La Calisto opens March 13, 2009.
